Good Chinese food delivery is a thing of beauty. Every area within North America has a different style of Chinese food however, and not all are to my liking. This doesn’t necessarily make them *bad* just a palate that I have not yet come to appreciate. Mind you, some are down right disturbingly nasty and should be closed down due to yuckiness. Fortunately, not only is the Jasmine Tea Garden good, they are super sweet and have amazing customer service. Also, their fortune cookies knew that I’d be reviewing them, and as we all know - flattery will get you a lot of places.

See… not everything we ordered was awesome. But first, I have to tell you why I hesitate to not gush over the food.
I was having a Moment™ where I was unable to cook, did not want pizza again and could not select food out of part hunger anger and part almost-sick-pickiness. It was a sad day in the Caton/Diaz household and was going to end in tears (not mine) if I was not fed soon. Dustin suggested Chinese food because he knows that I love it so and we don’t eat it often. We headed to Yelp, our trusty source of near by reasonable food, and searched for someplace that would deliver to our neighbourhood.
We decided on the Jasmine Tea Garden and I called to order as I was being “she who is un-pleasable” for the evening, and Dustin simply requires something that contains beef to be happy. The super nice guy who answered the phone spoke very good accented English and upon my question, “What would you suggest for someone who likes Beef and Brocolli, but doesn’t want to eat the same dish they order every time they get Chinese food?” he came up with an entire menu of possibilities. In the middle of my order, I began coughing like mad. I must have sounded like I was going to hock up a lung on the spot, possibly requiring a call trace and ambulance. (I could hear the conversation in my head - no really, she didn’t even eat the food yet Officer!) My Favourite Chinese Food Guy Ever asked me if I was okay and I told him that I had a cold starting up. Then… wait for it… he told me that hot and sour soup was going to save me and he was going to put some in *on the house*, that I should eat at least a bowl then get to bed directly. He assured me that I would be much improved the next day and said I should likely also have some tea.
I super wish that I thought the hot and sour soup was as awesome as the guy who I talked to on the phone. Sadly, it was not - and I thought it a bit chalky. The rest of the meal was not too bad, but nothing to re-heat the next day. Mind you, the BBQ pork buns that we ordered were completely delectable.

Like, really good. And I know me some BBQ pork buns, yo. Just the perfect texture and actually full of pork, not a mass of steamy dough with little worth digesting as I’ve had in the past. So, my advise is PLEASE order from the Jasmine Tea Garden and revel in their amazing customer service and pleasant phone banter. But maybe keep to the dim sum which seems to be their forté.
